Disaster Recovery Strategies in Exchange Server 2007


  1. Rebuild the Exchange Server completely by performing a new installation of Windows Server running Exchange Server 2007 in Disaster mode, and then restoring Exchange databases.
  2. Restore the Exchange Server from a full backup set, and restores Exchange databases.
  3. Use a standby Exchange Server.
  4. Use Dial tone recovery method to provide access to dial tone database in case of database or server failure.
  5. Reduce disaster impact by :-
· Monitoring server proactively
· Use Deleted Item Retention feature
· Use Deleted Mailbox Retention feature
· Use Continuous Replication method
· Distribute users across multiple Mailbox databases
